Are you Entrepreneurial? Try Options

Nothing captures the entrepreneurial spirit more than trading options.

I discovered my inner conscience in that regard many years ago with my first foray into the business world. I was in high school, and, living in the western New York area, my family had a cottage in nearby Crystal Beach, Ontario, on the Canadian side of Lake Erie. We would spend many of our summers on the beach. And in doing so, I befriended some of the local kids.

I was in my teens when the band Chicago Transit Authority released their “Chicago Live at Carnegie Hall” album. This four lp vinyl box set was being sold in the United States for about $5 but it was not yet available in Canada. Our Canadian friends loved it so much that they were willing to pay $25 for this record set. Obligingly, I offered to supply their demand by smuggling these records across the border and earning a $20 profit per order. For a kid many years ago, and as my first real “trading” experience, this was a lot of money.

Trading is the ultimate business, as it is purely based on supply and demand. Anyone can get into it. All you need is a trading account and a little seed capital, far less than you would require for a traditional business.

As a trader, I will never worry about a brick-and-mortar business and all that entails. There are no utility bills, maintenance, rent, property and business taxes or insurance. How cool is that?

You can trade whenever you want, and as much or as little as you want. There is no sitting at a retail counter waiting for a customer to stumble into your place of business.

You need not be concerned about a market. Your buyers and sellers are right there, waiting to fulfill your orders.

The best employee is no employee. Trading is the epic business for that. You will never need to hire anyone to execute your trades.

A business should be fun, exciting and financially rewarding. Options trading gives you all that and much more.

Governments love to intervene with our businesses by sending in health departments, labor boards and other agencies to make sure we comply with their endless rules and regulations. Recently, we even endured COVID-19 shutdowns, a striking reminder that Big Brother has the power to interfere with our God-given right to earn a living. I spoke to many entrepreneurs who lost everything in those days, even an orthodontist who fell through the cracks and became ineligible for government assistance. Last we spoke, he was scheduled for a meeting with a bankruptcy trustee. As an options trader, you will never be vulnerable to a higher regime determining your fate.

Options traders do not punch clocks or even go to a place of employment; you can work wherever you can find an internet connection. You can even trade using your cell phone.

As a trader, you have the ability to earn an unlimited amount of money by using your mental brawn. There is no heavy physical work, but if you can simply master your emotions, the world is, literally, at your fingertips.

Options trading is capitalism in its purest form. Supply and demand play an integral role in determining pricing. All we need to do is assess the imbalance in the economy and trade accordingly, building up profits along the way.

I sometimes wonder what else I could do to earn a living. What other business would I entertain? Frankly, nothing beats trading options.
