For 14 years, Hugh Grossman has manned the helm of DayTradeSPY – making it one of the longest, continuously running trading rooms in the world. For more than a decade, Hugh has shared the same real-life, real-money options trades he’s made to get rich.
Hugh’s a self-taught trader. Although, he didn’t start out that way, he had a nice career in the financial department of a major insurance company. But, he knew he needed to invest to build the kind of wealth he wanted for his family. So, he handed over a huge chunk of his savings to his broker… who, oddly enough, made him “broker”. By the time Hugh demanded a check for what was left, he was down 50%. Needless to say, he fired his financial advisor.
That’s when Hugh vowed to master trading himself. He read the classics, attended conferences and seminars, and even took classes. As he began to trade, and get better, he realized the importance focus. Instead of trying to watch the entire market, by concentrating on just one thing, he greatly increased his chances of winning. That’s how Hugh came to trade SPY (the SPDR S&P 500 ETF). But instead of just trading shares of SPY, Hugh’s always trades options. They’re a fraction of the cost yet can deliver gains 10X bigger.
Over Hugh’s career he created a simple and straightforward one-legged trading methodology. He trades calls and puts, buying and selling in that order. No spreads, no complex techniques or long-term holds. Hugh bases his approach on combined fundamental and technical analyses, plus years of what he calls “in the trenches trading”.
Jon Johnson joined DayTradeSPY February 2025 and has over 21 years experience helping thousands of clients gain success in the financial markets through his newsletters and education services. His philosophy in investing and trading is to take what the market gives you regardless if that is to the upside or downside. The goal, of course, is to make money… which leads to his definition of success: doing what you want to do when you want to do it.
He has been featured in various financial articles, including articles in the Washington Post, Chicago Sun, The Wall Street Journal’s Smart Money Magazine, Bloomberg, Kiplinger Personal Finance Magazine, Houston Chronicle, Business Week, Money Magazine and other news magazines. He was even featured in Forbes.com’s Best of The Web online edition.
Jon holds Business and Law degrees from the University of Texas at Austin and has practiced in commercial litigation and oil and gas law, arguing before the Texas Supreme Court and the U.S. Fifth District Court of Appeals.
During his law career, Jon became very interested in investing and entrepreneurship as he worked with many dynamic clients. He became an investor in several small businesses and today owns and helps operate private companies. Jon educated himself in investing and trading, reading everything he could find on markets. From that he developed his own trading and investing style. It became so successful his brokers asked if they could follow his trades themselves and with their clients.
