So Much to Be Thankful For!

An attitude of gratitude actually takes you far in this business. I do not know how it works, but I found that when I stop and appreciate the many little things in life I am afforded, oddly enough, more good things happen. It all sounds so ideological, but it works.

Every morning when I get up, I reflect in thankfulness in that I:

  • live in a world of religious freedom, able to worship however I want free of intimidation, harassment or worse.
  • was born when and where I was; imagine my likely fate had I been born a woman in the Middle East, as an example.
  • live in an area of the world where, despite some horrific snowstorms on occasion, the weather is fairly good most of the year, free of
hurricanes, tornados, floods, typhoons, volcanoes, dust storms or other catastrophic events.
  • live in a home with plenty of hot and cold running, potable water throughout the house at my disposal.
  •  live in a wonderful house in a safe, secure area, complete with heat, air conditioning and all the material needs anyone could ask for.
  • have some fine late model cars in the driveway, completely fueled and ready to go.
  • have a fridge full of fresh food.
  • am financially secure and able to create wealth as needed.
  • have a wonderful family, including a wife, kids and grandkids, as well as some very close friends who are all well to do in their own fields.
  • have a network of amazing acquaintances from around the world with whom I can connect.
  • still have fairly good physical health.
  • have good mental health, including a positive outlook and a good sense of humor.
  • enjoy cool hobbies to keep me occupied.
  • still “work,” if you can call it that, given that I run a trading room every morning and a few other things.
  • have an associate, Jon Johnson, in the trading room, with whom we enjoy tremendous harmony, chocking up win after win.
  • still possess my cognitive skills, ability to learn, good decision making and… oh, and what’s that other one…  memory.
  • feel I have a good dose of patience and discipline, characteristics needed in all facets of life.
  • still enjoy teaching others how to trade options, and in fact, still have the ability to help others in many ways.
  • work with a great group of people at Eagle Financial Publications, the best anyone can ask for.
  • am still able to handle the tests I am given from time to time as they make me stronger.
  • have a great group of loyal, committed followers in our trading programs… thank you all.
  • have all my licenses intact…  driver’s, pilot’s and marriage.

This list is never ending. I was even blessed in enjoying my Bernese mountain dog for over 12 years, twice their typical age.

These are some of the thoughts that run through my mind every morning before I step foot out of bed. It’s no accident, but I am truly blessed, undoubtedly one of the very top fractional percentages of people on this planet. For this, I am truly thankful and often wonder why I was so fortunate.

But here’s the thing: if you stop and appreciate all that you have, believe it or not, more is given to you. As a result, I attribute my trading success to this “attitude of gratitude.” Try it; it works, and right away.

I am not making this up, by the way. These concepts are fully supported through all the great religions of the world. From Judaism, Zoroastrianism, Hindu, Buddhism, Islam, Christianity and Baha’i…  they all say the same thing: gratitude is a core spiritual principle and practice, viewed as a transformative connection to the divine that fosters a more joyful, humble and compassionate life. A little inside secret: I never realized the power of this concept until my daughter explained it to me some years ago when I was struggling. The results have been staggering, and immediate. I never looked back.
